Funeral services for Mr. Jack Steven Val Lance will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home in Soperton. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County. Reverend Jason Corbett will officiate. Mr. Val Lance died Friday, September 18, 2026.
Mr. Val Lance, 78, was the son of the late Roy Val Lance and Arietta Young Val Lance. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on May 2, 1948. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and was a United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a systems analysis computer programmer at Fort McPhearson in Atlanta for over 20 years. After retirement, he and his wife moved to the Gillis Springs community of Treutlen County in 2014 and were members of Journey Community Church in Vidalia. Jack loved to watch western movies and anything to do with history, but he loved his family most of all.
Survivors include his wife of over 38 years, Lynda Reynolds Val Lance of Soperton; three brothers, C.T. (Barb) Val Lance of Constantine, MI, Bob Val Lance and Roy Young, both of Three Rivers, MI and all of his nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and great-great nieces/nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Kelley, Dakota Page, Nathan Chapman, Hugh Walker, Andy Simons and Matthew Corbett.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
