William Harold “Bill” Howell
Funeral services for Mr. William Harold “Bill” Howell will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home in Soperton. Burial will be in the Rosemont Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County. Reverend Mike Mertz and Reverend Dwayne Clements will officiate. Mr. Howell died Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Mr. Howell, 81, was the son of the late Bloyce Edward &Verna Scarborough Howell. He was born in Dublin, GA on July 5, 1944 and was a graduate of Dublin High School. He had been a resident of Lothair for the past 25+ years and was a retired truck driver. He was a lifetime lover of music and in his younger days he performed in many different venues and talent shows. In 2015, he became a member of the “Hall of Honor” for The Hillbilly-Country-Western-Gospel Music Industry and the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mavis Tanton & Linda Bentley and two brothers, Jimmy & Larry Howell.
He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Howell of Jemison, AL and Donnie Howell of Saraland, AL; daughter, Cheryl (Johnny) Marrett of Covington, GA; two sisters, Sandra Serensky of Dublin and Bobbie Scott of East Dublin, his significant other, Jeanette Powell of Lothair, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
Pallbearers will be Ron Ritchison, Josh Upshaw, Kayson Palmer, Joel Riley Bentley, Brant Phelps and Josh Barron.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning one hour prior to the service.
