Alton Hooks
Mr. Alton Hooks, father of Treutlen County Commission Chairman Lance Hooks, died Thursday morning, April 21, 2022. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home in Soperton. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Soperton. Reverend Reece Mincey will officiate.
Mr. Hooks, 64, was the son of the late Emmitt & Mallie Manning Hooks. He was born on September 17, 1957 in Soperton and was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County.
He attended school in Treutlen County, was a retired heavy equipment operator for Hooks Construction and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church. His four brothers, Wallace Hooks, Paul Hooks, Ward Hooks and Dale Hooks, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of over 28 years, Darlene Calhoun Hooks of Soperton; son and daughter-in-law, Lance & Heather Hooks of Soperton; two daughters, Amie Elliott of Statesboro and Mallorie Morris of Waynesboro; brother, Gerald (Becky) Hooks, of Soperton; two sisters, Carolyn (Jim Paul) Barnes of Uvalda and Bernice (Johnny) Williams of Mobile, AL; two grandchildren, Colt and Mallie Hooks and several nieces & nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be T J Hudson, Troy Hackle, John L Snead, Ryan Griner, Billy Wade, Frankie Wade and Mitchell Meeks.
Active pallbearers will be John Hooks, Robert Hooks, Derek Barnes, Wayne Hooks, Marvin Hooks and Stacey Sumner.
Visitation will be held Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family will meet at Mr. Hooks home located at 4075 Knox Mill Road, Soperton, GA.
