Fred Barber
Graveside services for Mr. Freddie Neil Barber, Sr. will be held Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the Copeland Cemetery, located at 521 Hwy 199 Spur in Treutlen County. Reverend Chad Cofield will officiate. Mr. Barber died Sunday, November 21, 2021.
Mr. Barber, 86, was the son of the late J.W. Barber & Estene Henry Barber. He was born in Glenwood, GA on July 25, 1935. His family soon moved to Treutlen County and he graduated from Soperton High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Fred, as he was known to all, was a lifelong farmer but also worked as an equipment operator for Reeves Construction and Graham Construction companies. He was a Past Master of Harmony Masonic Lodge #405 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Soperton where he served as a Deacon and the RA’s teacher for many years. His sister, Dorothy B. Brinson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of over 62 years, Henrietta Smith Barber; two sons, Freddie (Kathy) Barber, Jr. and James Sidney Barber, Sr.; two brothers, M.L. (Margaret) Barber and Bill Barber; sister, Laverne B. Hall, all of Soperton; four grandchildren, Heather Nicole (Matthew) Tidwell of Cadwell, James Sidney Barber, Jr. of Soperton, Jessica Leigh Barber of Dublin and Holly Nicole (Byron) Ward of Soperton; seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
The Masons of Harmony Masonic Lodge # 405 will serve as Honorary Escort.
The family will be meeting at 754 Hwy 199 Spur in Treutlen County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Soperton First Baptist Church Building Fund at PO Box 25, Soperton, GA 30457.
