Aaron Powell
Funeral services for Mr. Aaron Powell will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Union Baptist Church in the Minter Community of Laurens County. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reverend Mike Mertz and Reverend Baron Powell will officiate. Mr. Powell died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Scott Health & Rehab.
Mr. Powell, 78, was the son of the late Crawford & Lavada Brantley Powell. He was born in Kite, GA on November 5, 1944. He was a graduate of West Laurens High School where he received his GED and had been a resident of Laurens County for most of his life. Mr. Powell was a gate maker at Farm Master of East Dublin, worked in the Dye House at Forstman until it closed and was also a salesman for Edenfield’s. He had been a member of Union Baptist Church since 1982 where he served on the cemetery committee and he also loved to sing in the choir. His wife, Ervaline Powell who passed away in 1982, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie Ruth Powell of East Dublin; two sons, Baron (Judy) Powell and Daron (Melanie) Powell, all of East Dublin; Caron (Ernest) Murphy of Hiram; three step-children, Mickey (Gwenda) Rotton of Metter, Don (Sissy) Rotton of Lothair and Kay Aaron of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Austin Powell, Lauren Powell, Logan Powell, Haley Powell and Hannah White and several great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randall Warnock, David Warnock, Austin Powell, Kevin Chapman, Ricky Warnock, Shaun Scarborough, Hunter Jones and Slayton Marina.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
Bethesda Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church will provide a meal in the Union Baptist Church Social Hall beginning at 12 Noon.
