Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Darby Cook will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 1 PM in the Welcome Grove Baptist Church in Smyrna, GA. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Dr. Al James will officiate. Mrs. Cook died Wednesday, July 03, 2019.
Mrs. Cook, 91, the daughter of the late Lee & Julia Carnes Darby, was born in Nashville, GA and had lived in Treutlen County for the past 47 years. She was a high school graduate and later attended Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Treutlen County. Her husband, Hugh T. Cook, Jr; two daughters, Joyce C. Sanders & Lisa C. Johnson and two sons, Robby & Bobby Cook, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include two grandsons, Randy (Julie) Sanders of Milledgeville and Adam (Angela) Hackle of Soperton; two granddaughters, Kimberly (Tommy) Dorsey of Lizella and Amanda Jackson of Soperton; nine great grandchildren, Ashleigh Tafel, Austin McCooley, Zackery Hackle, Destiny Mincey, Jocelyn Sanders, Branton Hackle, Kaitlyn Hackle, Olivia Hackle and Leah Hackle; one great great grandchild, Silas Tafel and one brother, Glen Darby of Marietta.
Pallbearers will be Austin McCooley, Branton Hackle, Zackery Hackle, Joseph Morris, Barry Cook and Tommy Dorsey.
Mrs. Cook will lie in state from 12-1 PM Saturday at the church.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home in Soperton.
