Gary Haden Brooks
Funeral services for Mr. Gary Haden Brooks will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Soperton. Reverend Gilbert Posey will officiate. Mr. Brooks died Sunday, April 1, 2018.
Mr. Brooks, 65, was born in Atlanta, GA and had lived all of his life in Treutlen County. He was a Class of 1971 graduate of Treutlen High School and a graduate of Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. He was a Coach of recreation football & baseball for over 18 years and a founding member of the Soperton Jaycees. He was retired from Piggly Wiggly Southern in Vidalia, a retired supervisor from Edenfield of Dublin and a Baptist by Faith. His father, Luther Mayes Brooks, Sr., and brothers, Mayes, Jr., Bill & Wayne, all preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Jason (Jeana) Brooks and Luke Brooks; mother, Geneva Hendrix Reid, all of Soperton; two brothers, Danny (Deloris) Brooks of Vidalia and Neil (Angela) Brooks of Gray; ten grandchildren, Courtney, Tyson, Payton, Lydia & Parker Brooks; Jeffery, Jermey & Judson Rogers; Yasmine & Jakob Brooks and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held one hour (1-2 PM) prior to the service at the funeral home.
