Thomas Rayburn Smith
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Rayburn Smith of Soperton will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Joe Miller Cemetery in Treutlen County. Reverend Matt Lamb will officiate. Mr. Smith died Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Mr. Smith, 79, was the son of the late Wiley Joe & Nina Mae Williford Smith. He was born in Treutlen County on June 22, 1941 where he lived most of his life. He retired from the State of Georgia as a construction worker and was a member of St. Mark’s Baptist Church in Treutlen County. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Smith and three brothers, Carlos, Wiley & Riley Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Vinney Darsey Smith of Soperton; two sons, Carlos (Beverly) Smith of Soperton and Raburn Joe Smith of McRae; two daughters, Alma Debbie (Wayne) Champion of Dublin and Nina I. (Tommy Howell) Smith of McRae; two step-children, Bobby & Diane Darsey of Soperton; two sisters, Shirley Ann Sanders of Albany and Ann Herting of Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
