Cornelia Peterson Steptoe
Funeral services for Mrs. Cornelia Peterson Steptoe will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home in Soperton. Burial will follow in the Red Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County. Reverend Bobby Miller and Brother Jason Moseley will officiate. Mrs. Steptoe died Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Mrs. Steptoe, 83, was the daughter of the late George D. & Annie Johnson Peterson. She was born in Treutlen County and had lived there for most of her life. She was a “Class of 1955” graduate of Soperton High School, was the owner and operator of Fred’s Home Furnishings in Soperton for over 30 years and was a member of the Soperton Church of God. Her husband of over 42 years, Fred Steptoe; brother, Eddie Roy Peterson and two grandchildren, Jose Delgado III & Samantha Delgado, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck (Kay) Steptoe and Bill Steptoe, all of Soperton; two daughters, Jean (Randy) Pate of Milledgeville and Donna (Jack) Dean of East Dublin; sister, Lathia P. Reynolds of Covington; seven grandchildren, David & Derek Steptoe, Jeanna Sanders, Christopher & Tyler Pate, Zach Delgado and Riley Steptoe; seven great grandchildren, D. J., Jasmyne & Jaylen Steptoe, Julian Glass, Abby & Austin Sanders and Memphis Rowland.
Pallbearers will be David & Derek Steptoe, Christopher & Tyler Pate, Zach Delgado and Chad Sanders.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
