Mark Douglas Sayles
Mark Sayles went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Lothair United Methodist Church in Treutlen County with burial to follow in Westview Cemetery in Soperton. Reverend Mark Sweat will officiate.
Mr. Sayles, 65, was the son of the late Orville J & Helen Delores Flynn Sayles. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 16, 1956 and was raised in Maryland. He graduated from high school in 1974 and moved to Treutlen County in 1976. He was a graduate of Brewton Parker College with a BBA degree and was a member of the Brewton Parker College Choir that toured all over the southeast. Mark was a “musician’s musician” playing multiple instruments including the Hammond organ, the piano, harmonica and guitar. He played both secular and contemporary Christian music. Mark was also an automotive technician and restoration specialist. He was factory trained by General Motors, British Leyland and Mercedes. He was passionate about classic British cars and loved to attend vintage car races. In later years, Mark called Lothair United Methodist Church in Treutlen County his home church.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nanette Burchfield Sayles and his daughter, Rachel Sayles, both of Lizella, GA; sister, Susan (John) Kmetz of Wilmington, NC and half-sister, Linda Chaney of Mio, Michigan.
Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 2:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Community Hospice in Vidalia or Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry.
