Charlene Kittrell Peterson
Funeral services for Mrs. Charlene Kittrell Peterson will be held Monday, June 24, 2019 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Peterson family cemetery in Treutlen County. Reverend Dwayne Clements and Sheriff Tommy Corbin will officiate. Mrs. Peterson died Friday, June 21, 2019.
Mrs. Peterson, 85, was the daughter of the late Luther John & Pearl Mae Harris Kittrell. She was born in Sulligent, AL, was a 1951 graduate of Glenwood High School and had lived most of her life in Treutlen County. She was a housewife and homemaker to her family for many years. She began work in 1986 with the State of Georgia Department of Corrections from which she later retired. She was a member of the Treutlen County Board of Education for 16 years and a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and song leader at Rosemont Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Roy Peterson; daughter, Patricia Peterson; sons, Pat & Mike Peterson; sisters, Martha Lou Hall& Dorothy Nell Lee; brothers, William & Claxton Kittrell and granddaughter, Missy Peterson.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony (Sheryll) Peterson of Dublin and Jeffery (Rosel) Peterson of Soperton; three daughters, Cheryl Barron of Dublin, Sonia (Mike) Wynne of Cochran and Terry Drawdy Parker of Milledgeville; brother, L.J. (Martha) Kittrell of Dalton; 13 grandchildren, Shane, Chad& Catelyn Peterson, Amanda Guthrie, Triste Walker, Brad Grainger, Jessica Dayhoff, Kristen Hall, Shelly Davis, Eric & Chris Peterson, Chad Wynne and Trinity Williams; 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Peterson, Shane Peterson, Brad Grainger, Randy Kittrell, Stacy Kittrell and Timmy Walker.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
