Louise J. Cauley

Our loving mother, also affectionately known as Grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA. She was 88 years old.
Mollie “Louise” J. Cauley was born on November 3, 1935 in Treutlen County to the late George (Dordie) Johnson and Nettie Mae Johnson. She was a “Class of 1953” graduate of Soperton High School, worked at the Soperton shirt factory and later attended cosmetology school in Macon, GA. She practiced cosmetology at a salon in Centerville and from her home in both Warner Robins, GA and later in Soperton (Lothair), GA. During her time in Macon, she began dating her late husband Howard B. Cauley. Together, they raised their four children in Warner Robins. Louise continued to practice hair in her home while being a devoted homemaker. In 1980, they moved back to their home in Treutlen County, where she resided until her death.
Louise was a dedicated church member at Northside Baptist Church in Warner Robins and later Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Treutlen County, where she loved to sing in the choir. Her love of singing started with her siblings. She and her sisters started singing together in the local area and later became known as “The Johnson Sisters” and, as a highlight, performed at the Nancy Auditorium in Swainsboro, GA. She grew up playing the board game Pollyanna and shared her love of the game with her children and grandchildren. Louise loved to travel and took many trips across the country.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dean A. Cauley and three sisters, Hazel Ricks, Ruby Adams and Grace Thomas.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donna McDonald (Don B.) of Vidalia, Dave L. Cauley (Sandy) of Bonaire and Dan G. Cauley (Sue) of Soperton; six grandchildren, Jarrod (Katlyn) McDonald of Vidalia, Jason (Danielle) McDonald of Mt. Vernon, Brandon (Hayley) Cauley of Bonaire, Lindsey (Brendan) Coleman of Cumming, Mindy (Caleb) Wickstrom of Vidalia and Mallory (Austin) Lewis of Soperton; eight great grandchildren, William, Lee, Carter, Claire, Jaxon, Sofie, Addi and Brantley; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Cox of Eastman and Gladys Cauley of Cullowhee, NC; brother, George Millard Johnson (Marsha) of Kathleen, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
