Willie Green Higgs
Graveside services for Mr. Willie Green Higgs will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Faith Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County. The Reverend George Grimes and Reverend Mike Spivey will officiate. Mr. Higgs died Monday, October 12, 2015.
Mr. Higgs, 82, was the son of the late James William “Billie” Higgs and Erma Brantley Higgs. He was born in Treutlen County and was a graduate of the Soperton High School Class of 1950 and attended Georgia Southern Teachers College. He was the owner/operator of Higgs Ambulance Service (1977-2013), Higgs Florist (1989-Present), Higgs Funeral Home (1999-Present), State of Georgia Licensed Funeral Director since 1974, Treutlen County Coroner for 35 years, a Masonic Member, a NCHA/SOWEGA Cutting Horse Champion, a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and Member of the First Baptist Church of Soperton. His brother, Sheriff Jim Higgs, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Bush Higgs; son and daughter-in-law, Greg & Marijo Higgs; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa & Mitch Johnson; grandchildren, Hilary & Haley Higgs and Will Johnson, all of Soperton.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday night in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home.
