Cecil LeRoy Clonts, Jr.
Cecil Leroy Clonts, Jr., 89, of Soperton, Georgia, passed away February 10, 2024, at Treutlen County Health & Rehabilitation. He was a long-time member of Lothair Church in Soperton.
A memorial service will be held March 12, 2024, at 11:00 am, with a gathering beginning at 10:00 am in the chapel of Higgs Funeral Home, Soperton, GA with a full Military Honor Guard Detail. Reverend Tommy Veal will officiate the service. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Lothair Church, 6649 GA-199, Soperton, GA. All are welcome to attend.
Mr. Clonts was the son of the late Cecil Leroy Clonts, Sr. & Jeania Weaver Clonts. He was born in Chattanooga, TN. After high school graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean War. He retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief after 30 years of service. He then lived in various places, including Georgia, Florida and Washington DC, and eventually settled in Soperton, where he lived the past 36 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Clonts of 40 years; his brothers, Carlos Clonts and Herbert "Herbie" Clonts and his sisters, JoAnn Guth and Kathlyn "Sue" Emigh.
He is survived by sons Cecil Leroy (Lori) Clonts, III, of Maple Falls, WA and Kennith Wade (Susan) Clonts, of Pine Ridge, FL; step-children Michael Bernard (Melody) Tittle, of Rossville GA and Barbara Ann Davis, of McAdenville, NC; brother William "Willie" (Sue) Clonts, of Soddy-Daisy, TN and sisters Sandra Peek and Mary Beth O'Baker, of Port St. John, FL; and one aunt Melba (Jimmy) O'Connor, of Chattanooga TN.
He had eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lothair Church Benevolent Fund.
