Rachel Lafaye Rain
Ms. Rachel Lafaye Rain age 64 of Soperton passed away on Wednesday morning 8/2/23 at Memorial Health Meadows. Born in Jersey City, NJ she was the beloved daughter of Louise Weigand and the late Edward “Ned” Weigand.
Rachel graduated from Matawan Regional High School class of 1976. Throughout her life and travels, Rachel had various jobs that took her throughout New Jersey, New York and places in between. Rachel finally settled into Georgia where she retired. Rachel also received the prestigious honor of a job at the Pentagon but she graciously declined to pursue other dreams at that time. Never one to shy away from new beginnings or adventures she lived her exciting life in New Jersey and New York but decided to settle in Soperton to be near her family.
Rachel loved fashion and her high heels. Especially in her younger years. Always sporting a trendy ensemble with her signature platinum blonde hair. Our little town was her runway. Rachel loved her children and never let a moment pass without an “ I love you.” Rachel was a vibrant, full of life force of nature. To know her was to love her. Even while battling cancer, she maintained her upbeat attitude. Rachel loved the Lord and expressed her desire to see her Heavenly home.
Rachel leaves behind her mother, Louise Weigand of Dublin Ga. Her children, Ryan(Shelly) Weigand and Jordan Rain. Brothers, George (Penny) Weber and William (Madelen) Weber all of Soperton Ga. As well as several nieces and nephews.
No funeral services will be held. Rachel’s request of giving back was honored by donating her body to science. Care of Georgia Regents University in Augusta Ga. Rachel’s donation will allow upcoming first year medical students the continued opportunity to gain knowledge and a better understanding of human anatomy.
