Eleanor Cauley Britt
April 24, 1935 to April 23, 2024
Eleanor (Elna) Cauley Britt passed from this life into the arms of her LORD and Savior JESUS Christ on April 23, 2024 surrounded by her children. Born and raised in Treutlen County, she lived most of her life in Treutlen County, Georgia except for a three year period in the middle 1950's in Houston County, Georgia. She was a 1953 graduate of Soperton High School, a 1972 Honor Graduate of Brewton Parker College, and a 1993 Honor Graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with a degree in nursing. Serving others through the anointing of GOD'S Holy Spirit was her greatest joy. Before she began her working career she was a devoted wife and homemaker. Her working career included Administrative Assistant at Soperton Manufacturing Company, support staff attendant at Precious Care Home assisted living center in Vidalia, Georgia and Heritage Care Home assisted living center in Ocilla, Georgia, and floor nurse at Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Assisted Living Division prior to retirement.
One of her greatest passions was Bible Study and Teaching others about JESUS Christ. She taught Bible Study in various positions from Nursery attendant to Senior Adults for over 65 years. Many times she would go pick up children in her car that did not have a way to church, take them to church, and then take them back home. She was also known as the prayer warrior that several in the community would come to her house just to have her pray over them. She never asked for glory or honor because that all belongs to GOD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samual Andrew Cauley and Ovie Brantley Cauley, a brother Jake Cauley, a sister Evelyn Cauley, brother and sister-in-law Howard and Louise Cauley, brother Alva Cauley, andbrother-in-law Wilmer Smith, and granddaughter Alisha Thigpen Crocket.
Survivors include her children Angela Britt Joiner of Millen, Georgia and Shannon Rodesser Britt (Tami) of Vidalia, Georgia. Also surviving are her grandchildren Allison (Cathy) Reynolds of Portland, Oregon, Jeremy (Stephanie) Thigpen of Garfield, Georgia, Brad (Mandy) Britt of Vidalia, Georgia, Celeste Britt (Chris Flanders) of Covington, Georgia, and seven great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are sister-in-law Gladys Cauley Silva of North Carolina, sister Alma (Paul) Thomas of Ocilla, Georgia, brother George (Lucy) Cauley of Soperton, Georgia, sister Jacquelyn Smith of Soperton, Georgia, and brother Wayne (Sarah) Cauley of Soperton, Georgia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Lothair Community, Treutlen County on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life Service led by Pastor Jimmy Dupree to start at 11:00 AM in the Church. The burial will follow in the Faith Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
