Lemuel Hamp Padgett
Funeral services for Mr. Lemuel Hamp Padgett will be held Thursday,
September 11th, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Red Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen
County. Reverend Curtis Sumner will officiate. Mr. Padgett died Monday,
September 8th, 2014 in the Dublin VAMC.
Mr. Padgett, 75, was the son of the late Lemuel Franklin and Annie Mae
Morris Padgett. He was born in Augusta, GA and had lived most of his life
in Treutlen County. He received his Bachelors Degree from Brewton Parker
College and his Masters Degree from Mercer University. He was a Retired
United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War (5 Campaigns) where he
received numerous awards and commendations including the Bronze Star. He
was retired from the Georgia Department of Labor and was a member of the
Orianna Baptist Church. His brother, Don Padgett, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Louise Parrish Padgett of
Soperton; son and daughter-in-law, Erwin & Lisa Padgett of Soperton; two
daughters and son-in-law, Elaine & William Ivey of Fitzgerald and Faye
Harden of Cochran; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several
nieces & nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sheriff Tommy Corbin, Bobby Cone, Josh Wood,
Ben Simons, Jonathan Ivey, Chris Meeks and Marty Meeks.
Active pallbearers will be Wayne Wickstrom, Leonard Fogg, Billy Padgett,
Garamiah Swearingen, Buddy Broughn and Ron Bivens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Higgs Funeral Home of Soperton has charge of arrangements.
