Donovan Walker, Sr.

Funeral services for Reverend Donovan “Slim” Walker, Sr. will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Higgs Funeral Home in Soperton. Burial will be in the Thigpen Chapel Cemetery in Treutlen County. Reverend Jeff Walker will officiate. Reverend Walker died Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Reverend Walker was the son of the late Reverend Curd & Lula Bell Johnson Walker. He was born in Adrian and had lived most of his life in Treutlen County. He was a retired peace officer with the Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, was Pastor of Thigpen Chapel for over 16 years and was an “avid customer of the Huddle House of Soperton”. His son, Daniel Curd Walker; sister, Trudy Walker and three brothers, Virgil, Tony & Huey Walker all preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Donovan (Tiffany) Walker, Jr and Clint (Jessica) Walker, all of Soperton; stepson, Daryl (Shannon) Love of Norristown; daughter, Dr. Stephanie (Chris) Harabaglia of Pueblo, CO and stepdaughter, Angela (Boone) Woodard of Dublin; three brothers, Bona Walker of Callahan, FL, Curd (Carla) Walker of Evans, LA and Clarence Walker of Soperton; five sisters, Wonnie Jackson of Soperton, Clora Moseley of Jesup, Polly Byers of Canton, Nina Poole of Soperton and Sue Ellen (Terrance) Messer of Jesup; five grandchildren, Shelby, Blake, Chloe & Abigale Walker and Walker Harabaglia, several nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Percy Jackson, Terry Jackson, Craig Jackson, Keith Dockery, Jeremy Walker and Huey Walker, Jr.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Thigpen Chapel Cemetery Fund,
